This Vocational Rehabilitation Tech Position, GS-0181-07 is located in the Veterans Benefits Administration, Winston-Salem Regional Office, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Office, Winston-Salem, NC. Processes general applications for vocational rehabilitation services to determine if the veteran is eligible for Chapter 31 benefits. Carries out administrative processing of Chapter 31 applications, awards, reviews facility invoices and payment inquiries utilizing computer software such as BDN, SHARE,VBMS, CWINRS, COVERS, Virtual VA, Map D and others Creates, updates, and authorizes Chapter 31 Master Records in BDN and CWINRS. Schedules group orientation appointments and mails letters to those veterans found eligible for Chapter 31 benefits. Provides general benefit information to current or potential Chapter 31 clients. Act as the office timekeeper, maintaining appropriate documentation of staff timecards. Maintains office contracting files and records. Ensures information maintained on the CWINRS database. Provide clerical and administrative support for office operations. This includes maintaining office supplies, division files, incoming and outgoing mail, division inter-office communication and interaction. Work schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level (GS-07) you must have one (1) full year of graduate level education in a social science field such as:
counseling, social work, psychology, or vocational rehabilitation . NOTE:
One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-07. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required (e.g., walking, standing, carrying light items such as manuals or briefcases, or driving or traveling by motor vehicle).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
