Legal Assistant

Legal Assistant, PD# 33008A Performs a variety of case and program management tasks editing and entering confidential information related to legal services. Serves as the first point of contact, greeting visitors and staff. Performs tasks working non-complex legal case assignments. Assist in a variety of case and program tasks entering and editing information relating to legal servicing needs using OGC electronic systems. Utilizes various electronic systems in accordance with regulations and policies. Engages in using good judgement in safeguarding confidential information. Provides information and assistance to visitors, claimants, petitioners and/or representatives based on inquiries. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Time-in-grade:
Applicants who are current Federal employees or who have held a GS grade anytime in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Example for a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 level. Specialized Experience (GS-07):
GS-07 Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Experience providing administrative support such as performing intake duties, serving as a first point of contact with attorneys and/or other professionals, routing and processing information, processing and reviewing documents, that may include legal documents, billing information, medical records or administrative records, for completeness and accuracy, with limited to no instruction. Experience utilizing electronic systems to gather, review, input, update, access, organize, process, and to maintain information for use in litigation and/or to accomplish time or case management functions. Experience preparing and drafting professional communications, such as legal documents and non-routine correspondence. Demonstrates initiative and independence in carrying out non-routine assignments. Experience may have been gained in a legal, medical, benefits, billing, fiscal, payroll, and/or similar program setting, which required retrieving and processing information from multiple electronic systems and reviewing the same for completeness and accuracy in compliance with established laws, rules, regulations, or policy. There is no educational substitution for this position. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
