OFFICE AUTOMATION ASSISTANT (OA) (Group Secretary)

The selectee of this position is responsible for performing the following duties:
Uses a computer and various software programs (such as MS Word) to prepare a variety of documents, including correspondence, case documents and/or action letters (e.g. dismissal, withdrawal, and deferral letters), forms, and other office support materials. Prepares and creates documents and correspondence consistent with instructions and guidance contained in the Regional Office Administrative Support Procedures Manual, and all other Agency/Regional manuals and memoranda. Gathers and assembles information responsive to public inquiries in an accurate, logical, and timely manner. Ensures that public documents are properly redacted and timely uploaded. Ensures that files, records, and reports are properly labeled and easily retrievable. Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work effectively and efficiently to accommodate office demands and timelines. If extension is required, gives reasonable advanced notice and justification. Refers telephone calls and visitors to the appropriate Regional staff member. Answers non-technical requests for information such as status of reports or information readily available from files. Provides follow-up on requests for information. Generates and/or prepares all routine reports or reports in response to special requests in an accurate and timely manner. Participates in activities that directly support the work of professional staff in fulfilling the Agency's mission. Provides assistance for other administrative professional positions as needed. Qualifications:
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
All current and former Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the next lower grade level (GS-04) or equivalent grade level of the federal service is required to qualify for this position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-04 grade level that provided you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of an Office Automation Assistant. Qualifying experience includes:
receiving calls and greeting visitors; preparing and reviewing outgoing correspondence for required attachments, dates, signature, complete address, and destinations; establishing and maintaining a variety of filing systems; maintaining calendars and scheduling appointments; maintaining time and attendance records; and preparing travel requests and associated actions. OR EDUCATION Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level in any field leading to a bachelor's degree or have obtained a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Transcripts must be submitted if using education to qualify. OR COMBINATION Equivalent combinations of successfully completed undergraduate education and experience (as described above) may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Total qualifying experience is calculated as a percentage of the experience required (i.e., 9 months of experience is 75% of the 1-year requirement). Total qualifying education is calculated as a percentage of the education required. The two percentages are added and must equal at least 100% to qualify an applicant for this grade level. (For example, 75% of the experience requirement and 50% of the education requirement would qualify the applicant at over 100%. Only education beyond the first 2-years (or 60 semester hours) counts towards the percentage. Transcripts must be submitted if using the combination option to qualify. TYPING PROFICIENCY In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, applicants must have a certificate of proficiency OR self-certify that they can type at least 40 words per minute. Such information must be included in your application package. Otherwise you will not meet the minimum qualifications requirements for this position.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
