Scope of Position:
Reporting directly to the Plant Quality Manager, this position leads and supervises the Quality/Kaizen group to promote a culture of Quality throughout the plant which ensures product integrity to customer expectations and business goals are met.
Responsible for effective development and application of plant quality systems and lead overall plant continual improvement efforts. Assist in providing leadership and development for plant quality organization. In addition, may lead business critical projects or investigations to support customer needs.
This position works closely with other functions within the organization (Quality, Commercial, Operations, Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Marketing) and is responsible for the quality of the product and process for all product lines.
Key
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Supervise team of Engineers and Technicians and hourly
Communicate, and execute the Quality strategy and roadmap, which support the manufacturing strategy for the location and the corporate direction for quality.
Provide coaching and/or facilitation of methods and tools or establishment of metrics.
Provide leadership for Quality Management Systems to ensure systems are effective and compliant with all customer expectations, corporate requirements, industry specific standards, regulatory and statutory requirements, covering product concept, through customer order, to product delivery.
Define and track engineering objectives that link to the overall plant and business objectives
Assign objectives and projects to direct reports. Provide guidance on project priority to ensure direct reports are focused on the appropriate project if conflicts arise
Assure growth in talent and capability of Quality staff, including self.
Strategy Support:
Work with Kaizen/Quality Manager to set and implement short and long term strategy to achieve plant production, quality, safety and financial goals
Champion the Product Quality Architecture necessary to prevent and detect quality issues for purchased materials and manufactured goods for the location. Defined requirements will include form, fit, function, operational safety, and regulatory compliance of the product, packaging, labeling, and any published documentation or implied intent of the product.
Understand internal customer stated and implied needs and ensure their expectations are being met
Identify and communicate industry trends regarding changes in quality systems and customer requirements
Business Support:
Support cable manufacturing in an around-the-clock manufacturing environment.
Report Quality metrics, and manage roadmaps for implementation/improvement of key elements. Provide updates to plant and business leadership.
Build an effective network including Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Division Quality, Global Supply Management, End Customers and Regulatory Affairs.
Champion Performance Excellence methods for to ensure continuous improvement is evident from product concept to delivery.
Maintain relevant quality system registrations (i.e., ISO9001, TL9000)
Manages customer complaints process with regards to timelines, customer follow up, etc. to prevent escalation of issues. Reviews and trends customer complaint data recommending improvement opportunities for all areas of the facility.
Authors and/or performs technical reviews of various technical documentation, SOPs, and specifications.
Develop and maintain a high level of product, analytical, and process knowledge in both self and staff. Provides training to employees, as needed (new procedures, GMP training, technical training, etc.).
Provide Quality Systems support for new and custom product development including authorship/review of quality plans.
Quality Architecture and Continuous Improvement:
Establish Built-in Quality Control plans, developing control strategies to make sure product achieves quality targets and applying error-proofing techniques.
Oversee expectations for validation of new products and processes or validation of changes to existing products and processes where form, fit, function, or regulatory compliance is potentially impacted.
Ensure that suppliers provide the highest quality materials that are ready for use. The scope of suppliers includes providers of raw materials, components, items, packing materials, finished goods or Contract Manufacturing.
Work to reduce product and process variation and the seven forms of waste where quality performance is defined as reducing the overall total cost of quality over time
Responsible for observing safe work practices and being proactive for reporting any unsafe conditions.
Increase throughput in the bottleneck process by improving yield, and reducing set-up time
Apply Lean Manufacturing, Product Quality Architecture, DMAIC, and Kaizen programs to deliver results.
Assist and/or lead other staff or departments, when necessary, to perform investigations and resolutions of customer complaints and other root cause investigations.
Hours of Work: 8am-5pm typical. Flexible schedule required to spend time on shop floor across all shifts as well as address quality concerns.
Travel: Less than 15%
Required Education: B.S. in Engineering or equivalent technical degree
Required Years and Area of
Experience: 6
years in a manufacturing environment
Required Skills:
Demonstrated effectiveness in applying Lean Manufacturing techniques to reduce waste and improve operational performance
Strong statistical and process control knowledge
Work collaboratively in a team environment demonstrating strong facilitation skills
Excellent verbal /written communication skills and presentation skills
Ability to effectively coach, mentor, and lead subordinates, providing clear direction and establishing expectations
Experience in leading teams and departments in meeting continuous improvement goals
Successful and proven supervisory skills in a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of ISO or TL quality standards
Ability to interact with customers to resolve concerns
Desired Skills:
Certified Green Belt or Black Belt

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
